    What is going on?

Post by Bento_box on Mon 18 Aug 2008, 6:08 pm

Now after all the embarassment that SM went through with SMTownLive 08 you would think that the media will tear them to shreds. I mean isnt that what the media does? Report on the news? Especially when its their largest Entertainment company with artists known all over Asia and in some cases, all over the world?

You would think that since that they are the most successful, and also since they are a public shareholding company on the KOSDAQ, the media would be extra brutal on them. Isn't the publics money on the line, those of which have invested in buying SM Stock.

The public has a right to know what happend inside such a large companies show. As sales are involved as well as public relations.

What happens then when you read the news and find things like so...

"SNSD move on from the 'Silenceing incident' successfully"

"SNSD had no 'silent treatment' this time".

    "SNSD successful SMTownlive performance"

Also, not forgetting such lies as they had "SNSD was cheered on by fans from all groups during their performances." and "there were rumours of another silenceing but fortunately it didnt happen".

What happened to the lack of people there?? What happened to the true "attentive listening" and lights out??

Anyone there can agree with it, anyone whose seen the fancams and images provided can tell of how embarassing the lack of cheers to SNSD was and the empty seats.

Then why in the hell could the media not cover that? How can they truly call SMtown live a success? Shouldnt they produce at least a Full House to be called a success considering their placement in the market and the artists underneath their label?

    Whatever happened to journalistic integrity?

News sources are different to blogs and entertainment websites or forums. They list as credible sources, reliable sources, as of course the news should be.

It is disgusting and despicable that they would stoop to such a low level and be obviously paid off. How do we know they were paid off? Because every article in support of SNSDs SMTownLive 08 was practically the same thing, just reworded. Now some of you are still in school, so it's similar to having one person do the homework and everyone else copies it and writes it out in their own way.

A dead giveaway also to SMs wonderful little game is the fact that even some places he paid off released the information early.

    For example...

    http://www.asiaeconomy.co.kr/uhtml/read.jsp?idxno=381926§ion=S1N99§ion2=S2N603

    http://www.dailyseop.com/section/article_view.aspx?at_id=87744

His intentions were clear, because one of those websites is an asianeconomy website situated in Korea. Who is he hiding the information from? Current shareholders and potential shareholders. After the negative press SM had to suffer after the Dream Concert, it is clear that he was determined as to not have it be repeated. There were no press boxes or strictly press areas in the concert. In fact even the pictures distributed are all the same, just with different watermarks, assuming that SM had an official photographer sending the same pictures to everyone. Why such a stronghold, why such paranoia? Isnt it obvious now.

If this information delivered to the public is so false, how can anyone rely on such things like their Quarterly figures that they have to produce to shareholders? This kind of thing only decreases trust if not even erases all together.

If anyone truly looked in to Cass and ELFs comments or "letters" distributed online you can tell that they feel like they have been not only neglected by SM, but used, mistreated and taken advantage of. This is another stab in the back. For instance, how many repackaged albums has SM released? Photobooks, merchandise, diaries, calendars? The fans care so much of the artists and buy these because they know that their artists only get a small percentage of the profits, by small I mean miniscule. And SM just keeps producing them for more moolah. Whatever happened to "Customer Is King?".

This kind of news on such an official platform not only forms a painting of the fandoms as petty but now as liars. If someone didnt go out of their way to look at fancams and pictures like those found here, here, here and here then they would automatically undoubtedly believe these news sources. SMs mistreatment of fans, especially Cass and ELF has reached an all time low. Is it hard to see their purpose now?

Thankfully though there is one news source that we can still trust, check out Newsens account on SNSDs SMTownLive 08. Following article translated by our wonderful Maki.

SNSD overcame the Dream Concert “silent treatment” incident and successfully ended the SM TOWN ’08.

[… filler stuff we already know]

In particular, SNSD’ s fans who boast of their gang-like mindset, cheered on their girls and SNSD was able to finish their performances safely amidst their cheers. On this day, whenever SNSD came on stage, a strange feeling that recalled the events of the Dream Concert - like déjà vu – swept over the stadium; however, the audience showed a more matured fan culture by cheering them on. The fans shook their glow sticks and balloons.

The conflict that exploded on the internet among fan clubs resulted in the fan clubs of DBSK-SUJU-SS501 boycotting SNSD during the Dream Concert, resulting in a surreal experience of all the lights and noise from the stands being extinguished in the Olympic Stadium.

On this night, this strange feeling swept the same stadium once again. Although it wasn’t a complete “silent treatment”, the number of fans who shook their glow sticks and balloons strikingly decreased as seen from the stage.

The audience in the stands replaced the “silent treatment” with “attentive listening” as they quietly listened to SNSD perform. While concert go-ers walked the fine line of “silent” versus “attentive” listening, SNSD’s fans - consisting of the gang of older brother(오빠) and uncle(삼촌) fans - displayed their gruff, resonating voices that filled in the silence for SNSD to finish their performance safely (?) and melt the audience.

    Makis notes on the translation:
^ So funny, that question mark at the end was not added by me, it was actually added by Newsen. I think they heard the boos too. And I feel like the reporter was kind of repulsed by the "older men" at the concert who were cheering on SNSD. Thus, he/she decided to picture these boys and men as a "gang of males who gave SNSD a sense of security" (일당백의 정신을 자랑하는 소녀시대의 든든한 오빠, 삼촌팬들).

SM for years has been fooling the public and they have finally slipped up in such an open manner. It's time to end their dirty games if they wish for a wholesome and profitable future, love for an idol can only measure up so high. Last time I checked that South Korea was a democratic state and freedom of speech was a part of democracy, but I guess in a democracy you can also expect foul play. How much do you trust SM now? How much more can you believe now?

Tell me, where is the truth?

Credit to Maki and Bento_box for translation
Much thanks and love for queenbee, amylia, Angel for the sources

SM is full of shit, paying off reports.

I wonder how much this prick'll pay when Korea gets word of the Chinese concerts aftermath..

LMAO...omg they paid the reporters..& the reports are retarded to fall for it.
Big giveaway was the release of these reports being early cause i could've sworn news reports usually come a day after an event, not on the same day of the event or during the time the event is going on.

That was a big Oopsy....wow SM never cease to amaze me with there shady tactics. SMTOWN LIVE '08 was a BIG failure. It wasn't a full house because many fans refuse to watch the plastics.

The bigger question is how long is SM gonna keep paying to cover up for these plastics? I mean they are spending a lot of money just to make these plastics look good to the public but it's not really working. So why keep spending when you can just get rid of them & save all that money that you have been wasting.

I agree. DBSK and SuJu work their A$$ off and SM uses the money on those 9 talentless whores. I hate SM. He should retire.

They're seriously toying with the young fans feelings. Do they want the stress level and suicide rate going up or something? SM forgot that most of the fans are in their teenage years (around 15-25). It's the age where they take things to heart easily and are passionate about their likes and dislikes. Ever heard 'Hell hath no fury like a woman's scorned' SM? Or in this case, fan girls.

Even with the free tickets, the stadium is not full. What does that tell you? I miss all the light shows like in DC (Hi TVXQ and Only 13) that the fans do showing how they truly love their idols. At least we know the truth. No wonder netizens do their own digging rather than believing the news since they knew that media are SM lapdogs. Although at least we know there's still a little hope in the media department since one of them get away. Be careful SM, ShaPingKaEl are coming to get you. And guess what? They're not only in Korea, they are EVERYWHERE. Korea down, China and Thailand to go.

OMG, I'm so proud of you Bento Box. You've definitely impressed me with your deft, provocative exposé. I never even considered the investors that SM had to worry about. If they found out that SNSD got booed again, they would be pulling CFs left and right, leaving SNSD penniless.

LSM really needs to pull his head together or there will be vultures picking at his insides spilled across the ground by the end of the year. The next concerts are in China and Thailand, and it'll be even harder to control the media there. The foreign countries will be less forgiving...

THanks everyone who contributed to the article.

SM has his creepy hands all over the place .... it even reached out all the way to soompi .. yes my friends .. the reason you can't talk on Soompi and post any eye's opening articles and news or the moderators will jump off your throat and their dogs will rip you in half is cause SM is waving his magic wand over that place as well!

you all know IPLE was SM's failed attempt to copy Cywolrd and take away something off the popularity of their idea .. well SM made the iple and made all his artists to delete their cyworld account and start writing on their made iple accounts (there you still have some boys from suju like Heechul always ignores SM's creepy rules, and makes you wonder those accidents he went through was it maybe a scripted way to threat him to follow the rest of the sheep? but anyhow) on the iple website (http://www.iple.com) on the top you see an English sign for "IPLE Tutorials" click on that .. and lo and behold you just find yourself back in SOOMPI!
    http://www.soompi.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=153569

Now imagine how well they have that place on their own hand .. that they even know what is going on ... on every little thread of that place to use it in their own favor in adding more crowd to their misrable iple site! ... would you think he forgives the actual Artist's threads?

Interesting. I just don't get why he's so desperate to keep SNSD though. Why keep a product that has been rejected by everyone in Korea? (Minus the insanes but they are insanes, so yeah.) It seems a bit stupid if it's just for Sunny.

We international Antis are so spoiled by you!
That is one awesome article you've just wrote.
I was just wondering how are Korean Netizens reacting to SMTown '08.
Since SM had been paying for those news,
I seriously hope Korean Netizens will not be fooled by all those fake reports.
Korea need somebody like you, Bento_box to expose all the SM and SNSD evil deeds!
If only somebody as smart as you in Korea will do a similar report like this and spread the report like wildfire.
It will definitely spark Cass and ELFs to give a more united treatment towards SNSD!

    EDIT:
Okay, I know I am late and since the post about the seats are 2 posts behind, I thought I would just post it here.
Since SNSD fans are so convinced it's a rehearsal, these photos are a big slap across their face.
It clearly shows the empty seats and definitely not a rehearsal because look at the clothes.
These photos are taken from Supergirls@Baidu (yes, I stalk for fun and laughter)

    puahahahhaa.
finally. people are seeing how much SM sucks.
i've been hating on them ever since i knew kpop.
the way they treat their artists isn't healthy.
    example: H.O.T. and Shinhwa.
    tsk tsk
Dbsk and suju ought to just leave their company.

    really.
then SM can make SNSD their biggest star. then they can all explode together.

another great article. these article of yours should be posted somewhere else, where more people can see....

    EDIT:::
i remember the song Eric and Lee Minwoo wrote and composed.
    "Shinhwa, we make money, yo!
    Korea, you make money, yo!
SM, you make a whole lot of money yo!"

who knows them better than artists who left them because they want to disband their group to keep only some of the members?

i gotta admit that SM used dirty trick to cover up the truth quite succesfully. Even after the DC incident, ppl took SNSD as the "victim" while in fact they deserved to be punished for being disrepectful. Lately, there're a hella lot of SNSD and other artists threads at SOOMPI made by SNSD fans to taunt and fake that they are in good shape. Well, dream on those SNSD fans. They made me sick whenever i went to Soompi to check other artists without skimming through those useless and stoopid threads. Blerggg.
